The Golem seaside

Durres is one of Albania’s most popular and family-friendly destinations. The Golem seaside offers golden sand, turquoise waters and is unique for its balance of serenity and convenience.
The beach stays relaxed and visitors can enjoy quiet days or lively evenings along the promenade.

The Grand Blue Fafa Resort, host venue of the championship, also provides easy access to cultural and historical sites. Travelers can explore Durres and the nearby Golem beach with ease.
Being one of the oldest cities of Albania, Durres was known formerly as Dyrrachium. Legend says it was founded by Epidamnos, the Illyrian King of the area. It was for centuries the largest
port on the Adriatic and the start of the Via Egnatia road to Constantinople/Istanbul. Visits to the Durres Roman amphitheatre (the largest one in the Balkans with 20,000 seats capacity)
and the Archaeological Museum are very well recommended.
Albania is a popular destination and connected with many major airports and direct flights:
- Air Albania
- Turkish Airlines
- Lufthansa
- Ryanair
- Wizzair
- check SkyScanner for many more.
If you are traveling from or via Italy, there is also a daily ferry between the ports of Bari and Durres:
